Curriculum Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS)
CAPS is a national policy for education in South Africa. It is defined as a Nationalcurriculum and Assessment policy that is “...a single, comprehensive and concise policydocument, which has replaced the Subject and Learning area statements, LearningProgram Guidelines and Subject Assessment Guidelines; for all the subjects in theNational Curriculum Statement Grade R-12"- Department of Basic Education (n.a,2021).Curriculum Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) is commonly adopted by both the public(government) and private schools. It consists of four targeted intervention programs, namely:
• Foundation Phase (Grade R-3)
• Intermediate Phase (Grade 4-6)
• Senior Phase (Grade 7-9)
• FET-Further Education and Training (Grade 10-12)
Sanelisiwe Educations (Pty) Ltd adapts to this curriculum by following the constitution andthe proper CAPS document for the respective grade. To ensure active, updated and qualitylearning, we form a relationship with the parents and the teachers at schools, this helpsthe overall academic journey of the respective student.

Independent Examination Board (IEB)
Independent Examination Board (IEB) is a South Africa’s curriculum that is based on CAPScurriculum but does not follow the same structure as National Senior Certificate (NSC)
commonly known as Matriculation. IEB is mostly used in the South African private schoolsand is monitored by Umalusi, however it is more rigorous than CAPS. Therefore, thestudents doing IEB curriculum are more likely to get into the tertiary institutions andperform to their highest level. The IEB curriculum is equivalent to Cambridge AS level(United Kingdom curriculum), therefore, it is internationally recognized by the UnitedKingdom National Academic Recognition Information Center (UK NARIC).
Cambridge Curriculum
Cambridge curriculum is an independent international curriculum that is not monitored byUmalusi but by the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE), supported bythe leading teaching and research departments of the University of Cambridge.
Cambridgecurriculum has two examinations, namely: Cambridge checkpoint for primary and lowersecondary learners, as well as Cambridge IGCSE -for upper secondary students; Advancedsubsidiary (AS- level) and Advanced level (A-level). A-level is referred to as “grade 13” andis optional to some students
